GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA – Florida FFA is pleased to announce the selection of “Florida’s Finest” FFA Chapters.  The selection of these chapters is based upon the completion of the National Chapter Award application.  These chapters have excelled in the areas of student, chapter and community development and have worked hard to fulfill the mission of the FFA.  One member and one advisor from each of these chapters will be recognized on the main stage during the 4th General Session of the 82nd Florida FFA Convention on Wednesday, June 16, 2010.  In addition, each of these chapters will represent Florida at the national level in the National Chapter Award Program.  All award winners should report to the holding room thirty minutes prior to the session in which they are to be recognized.

2010 Forestry Camp Information

Space is limited, we anticipate this conference to fill up early. Make sure you register soon to guarantee your space!  The registration process is first come first served and the final registration deadline is May 15th, 2010.  Florida FFA has switched to an online registration system.  You will need to visit the Florida FFA website to register you and your students. This form must be completed for each attendee attending the conference, including advisors and chaperones. Florida FFA and the Division of Forestry requires that each student complete and submit the proper paperwork. These forms are attached to this email.  There are five forms, all are attached and in a PDF format.  Highlighted sections are to help bring attention to necessary information.  Students are not allowed to remain at the camp without having all the forms completed.  If you have any questions about completing any section, please contact Shaun Stewart at 352-754-6865, or email at stewars@doacs.state.fl.us

The cost of Forestry Camp is:

Advisors: $75.00

Students: $125.00

Payment must be sent in to the Florida FFA Association by May 1st. You spot will not be completely reserved until we receive your payment. Credit cards can be used, but will be charged a 5% processing fee. Fees are non-refundable unless cancellations are made 48 hours in advance to check-in.

Please remember that the advisor attendance policy is in effect for Forestry Camp and all students must be accompanied by a designated school district representative.  In the event that the designated representative is not the FFA advisor, please submit a letter of designation from the school principal or superintendent.  If your designated school district representative is another FFA advisor from your county, it is imperative that all parties are aware before arriving at the conference.  Please do not automatically assume that another teacher from your county will be the chaperone for your students.  All chaperone arrangements must be documented by your county supervisor, principal or superintendent.

If you, the advisor, are not attending Forestry Camp with your students, a letter must be received in the FFA Office NO LATER than July 1st-this is NOT a postmark date! Faxed copies will be accepted. Please do not show up without this letter or you will be asked to return home with your students.

Conference Facts:

  • Forestry Camp is not open to 6th and 7th grade FFA members.

  • 8th graders who will be in the 9th grade during the 2010-2011 school year will be permitted to attend.

  • Advisors: $75.00
  • Students: $125.00

Early Release:

This form only needs to be filled out if you intend to pick up your child before the end of camp (10:00 a.m. Friday).

Medical Statement:

If you child has medical insurance, please attach a copy of the card (front and back).

Please do not send the original card.  Even if your child caries the original card, please attach a copy to the form.

This form must be notarized.

Authorization for Administration of Medication:

The upper portion of this form gives us permission to administer medication at camp, either over-the-counter or prescribed.

The lower portion is for the prescribing physician and only necessary if your child is taking any prescription medication.

GAINESVILLE, FLORIDA – The Florida FFA Association is pleased to announce the selection of the finalists in the 2010 Agricultural Electrification Essay Contest. The top ten finalists are listed below. All finalists will compete in the Agricultural Electrification Finals to be held on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 at the 82nd Florida FFA State Convention. Please check the signage in the main convention lobby for the proper room location. The top ten finalists will be recognized, and the winner announced, during the Middle School Parade of Champions during the 2nd General Session. The 2nd General Session will be held Wednesday, June 16, 2010.  All award finalists should report to the holding area thirty minutes prior to the session in which they are to be recognized.

GAINESVILLE, FL – Florida FFA is pleased to announce the finalists for the 2010 Agricultural Proficiency Award program. More than 230 applicants from throughout Florida submitted applications within this program. The Agricultural Proficiency Award program rewards FFA members at the local, state and national levels for exceptional accomplishments and excellence in a Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) program. These supervised programs are planned, practical activities that are conducted outside of class time that help students develop and apply agricultural knowledge and skills learned inside the classroom. These programs can include entrepreneurship, placement, or research and experimentation.
